Daily I'nion. Front ttali. The Salt Lake mail under charge of Huds peth and Jones, bringing the mails of May and June, arrived at Jndejiendenc.e, June 27. A lejcraphic despatch to the Sf. Louis Repub liciin states: The party had no escort on their route Irom Salt Lake to Laramie. Hodman at tended tliem to Fallon's Bluff, from which point ('apt. Todd accompanied them to Fort Kearney. The delays heretofore are to be attributed to the want of an escort. Indians were very numerous in and beyond tiie Black Hills. They were very much alarm ed at the movements of our troops and desirous of peace, and proposed giving up the murderers nftlie mail party last fall. The troops gave them jio countenance. The reports of so many persons being killed hv them arc all fabrications. About 100 of the troops had reached Fort Kearney, and more were near by. Col. Cook, with fiis command, was thiitv miles this side of that place on the Ist. Emigrant trains were met at North Platte to the number of one hundred wagons. A few w ere sf n between that and Kearney, hut many more were met from that point to Foit Leaven worth. In one of the Merman trains the cholera had taken off twenty five or thirty, and one-third mire were sick, Kinkead's first train was met near K-arney. (heat excitement on the subject of gold found on the Sweet Water was manifi sled in Salt Lake Valley, and numbers were leaving daily for the iliggitis. By*"m-xt mail the jesiilt of their oper ations will he known, and the bed of4be.fivrr would soon be laid bare and the bidden treasure exposed. A good deal of anxiety is manifested here a lout the gold discovered on the head-waters of the lied River in the territory west o| Arkansas ami many are awaiting the return of the passen gers to bundle up lor that point.
