If you make cookies with young children, do not allow them to eat raw cookie dough which contains raw eggs. Eggs may contain Salmonella bacteria which can cause food poisoning. However, if the cookie is baked, the Salmonella bacteria are de stroyed. If your children insist on eat ing raw cookie dough, purchase the prepared cookie dough found in tubes in the refrigerated sec tion of your grocery store. These batters are prepared with pas teurized egg products which make the raw product safe to eat. If you prepare your own egg nog, use a recipe which cooks the egg product. Using raw eggs puts you and your guests at risk for Salmonella poisoning.
