Dairy One Hosts Interns
ITHACA, N.Y. Dairy One recently conducted
internships for two SUNY Cobleskill students.
An internship is a requirement for bachelor of
technology agribusiness students as well as other
majors offered at SUNY Cobleskill. The internship
program requires students to have a variety of expe
riences within a business affiliated to their majors.
In the summer of 2002, the internship was given
to Nicole Koerner, an agribusiness/agri-enterprise
major. Nicole grew up on a small dairy farm located
in Pike, N.Y.
“The diverse opportunity of Dairy One is what
really interested me” said Nicole. She had the op
portunity to work a few weeks in many of the de
partments: the milk lab, Quality Assurance, forage
lab and forage data, accounting office and she
worked in the field with many Dairy One Farm Ser
vice Technicians. In the fall 2002, Nicole also as
sisted Dairy One in giving phone support to
Pennsylvania technicians learning to use the Dairy
Comp 305 software.
Emily Peck, also an agribusiness/agri-enterprise
student, took this internship opportunity during the
summer of 2003.
Emily grew up on a small dairy farm located in
Richville, N.Y. and has the desire to expand her
skills and experience in the dairy industry.
Time was spent with Farm Service Technicians,
the Dairy Management Resources team, and the
milk lab.
