For Jor dan Schrock of Blooms burg, owner of the grand champion market lamb, the sale was an exciting one. The lamb set a sale re cord at $9.25 per pound, purchased by Berger Sani tation Service, Muncy. In 2001, Jordan was the owner of the previous re cord-breaking sale at $5.50 per pound. In reaction to the final bid, Jordan was amazed at what happened. He said, “I did not think I was hearing (the auctioneer) right. I was shocked.” This four-year 4-H mem ber is looking forward to investing her sale earnings into another 4-H project, a new horse. Outside of showing sheep and horses in 4-H, Jordan also enjoys participating in a 4-H rab bit project. In the beef and swine sales, grand champion owner Colby Williamson of Cogan Station took home sale earnings of $2.50 per pound for his beef steer, purchased by Sunset Ice Cream, Williamsport, and $3.20 per pound for his market hog, purchased by Alexander Family Pontiac, bringing him one step closer to reaching a long term- goal. The annual event featured 55 young people who sold their livestock projects. The sale averages were as follows: steers, including the champi ons, $1.39 per pound; lambs, including the champions, $2.11 per pound; and hogs, includ ing the champions, $1.03 per pound.
