Solanco Colored Breed Dairy Show Draws 60 Animals DAVE LEFEVER Lancaster Farming Staff QUARRYVILLE (Lancaster Co.) Ayrshires, Milking Short horns, and Brown Swiss turned out in the largest numbers at the Solanco Fair Colored Breed Dairy Show on Wednesday. A total of about 60 animals com peted, including several from the Lineback, Jersey, and Guernsey breeds. Lancaster County Dairy Agent Beth Grove judged the show. Grove picked Becky Nolan’s 3-year-old cow, Dreamnol Willy Rigil Leandra, as grand champi on of the Ayrshire competition. Nolan, 18, graduated last spring from Octorara High School. Leandra was her FFA project cow. Crowl, 12, is a member of the Airville Milk and Money 4-H Club. She is the daughter of Mel anie and Gary Crowl. Her grand parents, Joyce and Ellis Crowl, have a dairy farm where they keep more than 50 Milking Shorthorns, according to Carlyn. Lisa said she is planning to take both winning animals to the All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg this coming week.
