Denver Fair Swine Show Judge Dave Holloway, Glen Rock, had this advice to exhibitors: use the “tools,” he said, available to feed and care for hogs, and find “the genetics that work for us.” That was before he went and congratulated Ryan Fisher, Bethel, as grand champion market hog exhibitor Tuesday evening at the Denver Fair. Ryan, 11, exhibited grand champion last year at Denver. He is the son of Wendy and Randy Fisher. Ryan won in the Class 4 division with a hog weighing 258 pounds. The Bethel Elementary School sixth grader ob tained the hog on his grandparents’ farm, Sandy and Oscar Man beck, Bethel. Ryan noted he walks the hog, a Hampshire crossbred barrow, a couple of days a week, “whenever I don’t have soccer,” he said. He plays right side fullback on the soccer squad. Holloway picked for reserve champion the Class 5 champion, a 260-pound hog exhibited by Jonathan Rupert, Ephrata. Jonathan, 15, son of Jim Rupert, exhibited a Yorkshire crossbred bar row.
