PUTT, AUCTIONEER AU-000733-L Phone Akron (717) 859-1430 Antiques Detective earlier colors were rose, amber, turquoise-blue, and green. In the 1880’s gray, dark green, and dark red were used. Hundreds of miser purses were made. They open into a slit for coins to be inserted. So were wristbands; flat panels made with small beads. They were hand woven on a loom. During the 19405, bead bas kets were once again a popular craft. However, the beads were large and the look different than the antique versions. Beaded flowers have never stopped being made. Beautiful beaded small purses from the 19205-1930 s still show up at es tate sales, along with those made in the 19705. There are many books on bead embroidery for research.
