Slaughter Goats. Compared to last Monday,
a lighter run of Kid goats sold 5 00-7.00 higher,
with the bulk of the supply weighing between
30-40 lbs. Yearlings sold as much as 10.00 high
er on a very light test. Nannies sold steady on
higher quality offerings, with Selection 1 and 2
goats trading between 10.00 and 15.00 higher.
Billies sold steady to 5.00 higher with a high
selling individual at 160.00. Wethers sold most
ly 15 00 to 20.00 higher on a high quality run.
Over all quality was above average, with very
good trade activity. All goats are sold by the

Compared to Thursday, slaughter steers sold
mostly steady on Monday However, the bulk of
the very small Tuesday run sold steady to 1 00
higher, although it was a simple case of supply
and demand as the Tuesday run failed to break
100 head. The quality of the runs were \ery
mixed, and only included a few consignments of

high quality cattle; although its no wonder pro
ducers are shipping them to town a little early
when they are selling in the high 70‘s. A light
run of Holstein steers and slaughter heifers sold
mostly steady.
Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 1.00
higher. Slaughter bulls sold with a weaker un
dertone on a very light test. The two-day run in
cluded 234 head of slaughter steers, 34 slaugh
ter heifers, 350 slaughter cows, 15 slaughter
bulls and 10 head of feeder cattle

as much as 30.00 higher. Graded Number 3‘s
continue to be very cyclic selling nearly 50.00

steady with early week prices. Holstein heifers
sold sharply higher at 485.00 on 93 lbs calves
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
graded 806 head of bulls and heifets for the
graded sale, with an estimated 96 percent of the
graded run going back on feed.

Compared to Tuesday, slaughter steers sold
2.00-3 00 higher, with the majority 3.00 higher
Prices were a full 2 00-3 00 higher when com
pared to last Thursday's run as well. You could
tell it was going to be an active day when the
first steer in the ring weighed over 1500 lbs, and
sold for 84.25; after that most people that were
sitting close to the sale nng were in search of a
safety harness Bidding was very active
throughout the day as a good selection of steers
benefit of putting the extra finish on them as
Prime steers once again topped at nearly 87.00
on Thursday; with kosher buyers thrilled to
have the good quality steers to fill their loads
Holstein steers sold firm to 2.00 higher as pack
er buyers went in search of the spotted stock to
cheapen up their colored loads a little. A light
test of slaughter heifers sold 1.00-2.00 higher as
well. Fleshier (65-75 percent lean) slaughter
cows sold mostly steady, instances firmer. Bon
ing cows sold firm to 1.00 higher. Lean slaugh
ter cow sold weak to 2.00 lower as buyer attend
ance was lighter than normal. Slaughter bulls
sold steady to 2.00 higher when compared to
the very light Tuesday run; with bull prices
trading mostly steady with last Thursday. The
supply included 468 head of slaughter steers,
459 slaughter cows, 60 slaughter heifers, 71
slaughter bulls, with 162 head of feeder cattle.

Calves: Compared to Tuesday, slaughter
calves sold near steady. Holstein bull calves
suitable for special-fed veal bams sold sharply
lower as late week buyer interest was very light.
The 30.00-40.00 decrease came after Number 1
bulls sold as high as 287.00 on Tuesday. How
ever, prices are fully steady with last Thurs
day's run. A very light test of Holstein heifers
sold with a weaker undertone. The Pennsylva
nia Department of Agriculture graded 463 head
of bull calves for the graded sale, with an esti
mated 90 percent of the graded run going bacl(
