Compared to last week, slaughter lambs were 3.00-7.00 lower for lambs over 90 lb. Lambs under 90 lb were 3.00-9.00 lower. Slaughter ewe and goat prices remained steady. Demand was light to moderate. Trading activity was moderate. The fair season has started in the Midwest and the abundance of these lambs is pressuring the market. Carlot lamb carcass prices were 1.25-5.00 higher lor weights under 45 lb. Prices for lamb carcasses over 45 lb were 2.00-6.75 higher. Confirmed sales this week about 65% slaughter lambs, 35% ewes and an addi tional 638 head of goats. Total sheep and lambs sales 1300, last week 800 and year ago 1050. The 2003 edition of the Reading Fair, a 149 year old Berks Coun ty tradition, is scheduled for the week of August 4th through the 9th at the Reading Fairgrounds located at Hilltop and County Welfare roads in Bern Township off Route 183, 1 mile north of the Reading Regional Airport. The fair begins on Monday, August 4th. Thirty rides for kids of all ages will be on the midway. In addition there will be carnival games, old fashioned games and contests, animal judging and demonstrations, a horse show, agricultural and horticultural ex hibits, commercial exhibits, and food available. The hours for the rides and midway are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m. till 10 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday from 1 pm till 10 pm.
