The other week I went to
school. My granddaughter’s
teacher asked her pupils to invite
their grandmothers to tell about
their youth. Apparently, I was
the only one who responded.
While the children sat on the
floor in front of me, I sat in a big
rocking chair and told them
about my home life and going to
school. Later someone told me
that I ought to write those things
down for our children. I think
that I have written enough things
down on paper.

Our youngest son and daugh

we drove there with our son and

the afternoon. He measured the

made and then we still had time
for walks in the wooded acreage.
I went down a steep hill to a
stream where the grandchildren
found frogs and crayfish. The
only trouble with that was that I
had to climb the long, steep hill
to get back to the car. So, I took a
few rest stops as I’m not getting
any younger. In fact, today is my
birthday.
The other day two big boxes
arrived for my husband. Our
daughter sent him large, perfect
fruit in one box with cheese and
mixed nuts. The other box had a
round tin of unusual assorted
candies. We’d never seen any of
those kinds before.
I’m sure that our children are
concerned about us as they often
telephone us. But, most of them
live too far away to visit very
often, so I write letters to them.
