I All-Pennsylvania Holsteins For 2002 BETHLEHEM (Northampton Co.) The 2002 All-Pennsylva nia Awards were presented at the Pennsylvania Holstein Associa tion Awards Breakfast during the recent Annual Convention in Bethlehem. The All-Pennsylvania Awards are given to the top animals in each of 20 classes from three major shows sponsored by the Pennsylvania Holstein Associa tion. Animals shown at the Spring Show, one of seven Re gional Championship Shows, and the Fall Championship Show earn points toward All-Pennsyl vania honors. In 2002, some 1,400 head were shown at these major shows with 52 head earning AU-Pennsylva nia recognition. James and Nina Burdette, Mercersburg, led the way with four All-Pennsylvania awards, three Reserve All-Pennsylvania awards, and three Honorable Mention awards, while James Kahler, Wellsboro received three All-Pennsylvania awards, one Reserve All-Pennsylvania and one Honorable Mention award. The Open Angus Show was conducted on Monday, Jan. 13. Judging the 134 entries was John Pyne, Mount Desert, Maine. Rising to the top as grand champion female was Rains Pride Lucy Y 8062. She first top ped the junior heifer calf division and is owned by Rains Angus, Mercer. The reserve grand champion female was owned by Mountain Valley Angus, Lititz, Weaver Show Cattle, Ephrata, and Rains Angus, Mercer, with Rains For ever Barbie FRD3B. She first top ped the junior division. The grand champion bull was presented by JDH Cattle Co., Dover, with JDH Key Heir 0451. He first topped the junior divi sion. The reserve grand champion bull is Golden Rule Saugahatchee 220 for Golden Rule Farms, Roaring Spring. He first won the junior bull calf division. The heifer calf champion was the grand champion for Rains Angus, Mercer. The reserve heif er calf champion is owned by JDH Cattle Co., Dover, with JDH Heiress Key 0452.
