Barliza is our latest heading Timothy. It’s
about 10 days later than Climax. Unlike
most varieties, it can be cut or grazed
prior to heading, adding flexibility to
Timothy management. “Barliza’s palat
ability is second to none” according to
Dave Leach, one of our dealers who has
been growing Barliza since 1998. Dave’s
farm is on heavy red clay soil and he
routinely grazes and/or makes hay/balage
off his fields prior to heading and still
maintains stand persistence. You can’t do
that with most varieties. Barliza was bred
in Europe for flexible management and a
high leaf-to-stem ratio.
