Larry Jarvis is pleased with the dependability
and hard work of Santos, Rodriguez, and de la
Cruz. Beside their close attention to milking, they
are also meticulous when it comes to cleaning the
parlor at the end of their shift.
“These are good guys,” Jarvis said. “When the
morning shift comes in, the parlor looks like it’s
brand new.”
Jarvis added that he wished some of the other
employees would pay that much attention to clean
liness.
The Jarvises recently attended a conference on
Managing the Hispanic Workforce put on by Penn
State and Cornell Universities. They said it was a
valuable experience, not just for learning more
about Spanish-speaking workers, but also for man
aging people in general.
“The most important thing I learned at the con
ference was to hire people before you need them,”
