0.8 Percent In November
WASHINGTON, D. C. Milk
production in Pennsylvania dur
ing November totaled 863 million
pounds, down 0.8 percent from
last year’s production, according
to the Pennsylvania Agricultural
Statistics Service (PASS).
The number of cows in the
state during the month averaged
591,000 head, unchanged from
October, but 5,000 less than No
vember 2001. Production per
cows averaged 1,460 pounds in
November, 35 pounds less than
October and unchanged from
November 2001.

farms in November in the 20
major states averaged 7.79 mil

a year earlier, and 1,000 head
more than October 2002. Produc
tion per cow averaged 1,501
pounds for November, 16 pounds
above November 2001.
