Agway members met in Syracuse today to hear reports from manage ment and the board of directors and to elect directors. As previously announced, Agway Inc. and certain of its sub sidiaries filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on Oct. 1, 2002. Four wholly owned Agway Inc. subsidiaries Agway Energy Products LLC, Agway Energy Services, Inc., Agway Energy Services-PA, Inc. and Telmark LLC were not in cluded in the filings. Also not in cluded in the filings was Cooper ative Milling, a joint venture between Agway and Southern States Cooperative. The Maryland Brown Swiss Associa tion is proud to announce a scholarship program that has grown from the successful activi ties, event, and fund-raisers of the association over the years. The funds have mainly been generated from member dona tions, Mid-Atlantic Brown Swiss Calf Sales, and profit from host ing a successful 2000 National Convention. The first schol arships from this program will be awarded at the Maryland annual meeting Sat., March 22 at the New Midway Fire Hall. The scholarships are offered to qualified 4-H and FFA youth from Maryland and surrounding states who have had registered Brown Swiss as a project. Basis for awarding the scholarships will be promise of leadership, sat isfactory scholastic rank, finan cial need, and knowledge of the dairy industry.
