The beautiful North ampton County 4-H Center was the site of the Northampton County 4-H roundup recently. The livestock classes were judged by Bob Mikesell, Penn State Sen ior Extension Associate involved with Curriculum Development at Penn State. Staying with the seniors he then tapped Travis Hahn as his reserve champion fitter. The champion showman title went to senior Joel Geiger, Dan ielsville, with Steven Hunsicker receiving the reserve champion showman ribbon. Repeating the success she had at the Planfield Farmer’s Fair earlier this summer, first-year member Kelly Hower again saw her Hampshire rise to the top as Mikesell selected her 263-pound entry as the grand champion market swine of the event. Kondziela then had her entry selected as the reserve grand champion. Kondziela also placed first in the pairs competition of the show. Jennifer Hower of Bethlehem then gathered the blue as she was named the champion fitter and showman of the beef show and later had her March 2001 Angus heifer, Just Enuff Circle A Sabri na named the champion Angus heifer as well as the supreme heifer of the show. In the market steer show Hower lead her 1,345-pound winner of the heavy- weight class to the grand champi on market steer spot. Grand champion Simmental heifer honors went to the entry of Jesse Poliskiewicz, Bangor, named Strawberry. The reserve grand champion market steer title also went to Poliskiewicz for his 1,235-pound entry from the medium weight class. Moving on to the market goat competition, Mikesell selected junior exhibitor Josh Bauman as his champion fitter and Diana Holder, Slatington, as his cham pion showman. The reserve fitter and reserve showman titles went to Amber Buttner. For his grand and reserve champion market goats Mikesell selected the two entries of Sarah Blackadar, Riegelsville, from the heavyweight class weighing 88 and 87 pounds respectively. Sarah Blackadar continued to gather the honors as she was named the champion showman of the market lamb show and had her entry named the reserve grand champion market lamb. Brother Christopher Blacka dar was awarded the champion fitter of the market lamb compe tition and saw his entry receive the grand champion market lamb title as well as placing first in the market lamb pairs division. Reserve fitter honors of the market lamb show went to James Ford with the reserve showman title going to Amber Buttner.
