Dairy Checkoff Award Goes To Penn State Students HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program (PDPP) Chairman Karl Kroeck presented a $l,OOO check to the Penn State Food Ingredients Team during the recent PDPP board meeting. The dairy farmer funded checkoff program re warded the team for two years of participation and winning top honors in the 2002 “Discoveries in Dairy Ingredients” contest. The contest is sponsored nation ally by the dairy checkoff program as part of the Do it with Dairy® program and is designed to highlight the versatility and functionality of dairy ingredients while providing food science students with marketable expe rience. PDPP applauds the Penn State students for their creativity and success in developing Yogurt Crisp, which includes nonfat dry milk among its ingredients. It is a blend of natural strawberry and yogurt bases, coated with crisp batter on the outside. The award is earmarked for student programs in the Department of Food Science. The goal of PDPP and the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council Mid East is to contribute toward future innovation through students in the food science department. 701 E.
