September 11,2002 Report Supplied By USDA in most areas, prices were higher on mediums and continued unchanged on the remainder of sizes. The market tone was in a full range of steady to firm. De mand was light to at times good with best moxement where features were a factor. Supplies of the larger sizes were adequate while mediums were closely balanced. However, in California jumbo and extra large were reported as tight due to hot weather and heavy molting of older birds. Breaking stock offerings were adequate to tight for the light to moderate demand. Light type hens were fully adequate for normal processing schedules. National Retail Egg Purchases Atlanta, Ga. September 9,2002 Report Supplied By USDA Cooperators estimate orders for the week ending Sept. 13 will decrease by 6 percent. Present week purchases for the week ending Sept. 6 were 268,827 cases which was IS percent above the prior week and 7 percent below estimates. CASES PURCHASED: CARTONED; 235,390 up 20%; LOOSE: 33,437 - down 10%; TOTAL: 268,827 —up 15%. Comparison figures are compiled on a matched plant basis. De mand into all areas was unaggressive to moderate, trading was mixed, with regu lar commitments usually sufficient for trade requirements.
