If you were one of the thou sands of kids who attended the Handwashing University at Ag Progress Days this week, you’ve got a certificate to prove it. You also probably found out that you really had not been getting off all those germs that hide beneath your fingernails and cling to the crevices in your hands. Those germs grow bacteria and show up as squiggly little figures beneath a microscope. Technology enabled kids to see the germs that survived soap and water, but it also shows that there is nothing like a good scrubbing to get rid of bad bugs. The Family Learning Hub was packed with fun things to do that were actually educational. The latest research and technology was wrapped in fun activities such as fishing for savings tips and treasure hunts. As usual climbing over trac tors, petting live animals, riding a horse, milking a cow, and collect ing stickers and balloons prove to attract the most kids. Here are some photos of kids who attended the event on Tues day. Photos by Lou Ann Good, food and family features editor. Cody and Shanda Pheas ant of Blair County re ceived a certificate from the Handwashing Universi ty.
