At the Quality Inn and Suite in Pottsville recently, Holly Moyer, 18, was crowned Schuylkill County dairy princess. She is the daughter of Paul and Lucinda Moyer of Bemville. She resides on her parent’s farm, Peek-A- View Holsteins, where she owns 20 of the 350 head of dairy cows. Holly graduated June 6, from Tulpehocken High School and will be attending Johnson College in the fall to major in vet techni cian. Audrie Wolfe, 8, was also crowned Schuylkill County little dairy miss. Audrie lives in Pine Grove with her parents, Mark and Amy Wolfe, on their family farm. She will be entering the third grade at Pine Grove Ele mentary. Lindsay Kurtz, 14, was given the title of dairy ambassador and Madeline Daubert, 9; Victoria Daubert, 12; Amanda Hinkel, 9; Kassandra Moyer, 7; Tabitha Moyer, 9; Wynonna Moyer, 9; and Shelly Rex, 11; were given the title of dairy maids. For Holly’s skit she portrayed a cheerleader with an educational and fun skit for young children to get involved in. At the end she shared a cheer that she had de signed and had everyone involv- Centre-Clinton Raise Funds BELLEFONTE (Centre Co.) The Centre-Clinton Holstein Club conducted its annual Hol stein picnic for Centre County and Clinton County dairy farm ers on June 19. It took place at Ebon-Blanc Holsteins, farm of Tom and Lori Hartle of Belle fonte. The Centre Hall Lions Club helped with the pork picnic and clean-up. About 150 people attended including special at tendees, Ken Rainey, executive director of Pa. Holstein Associa tion; Secretary of Agriculture Sam Hayes, Kerry Benninghoff and Connie Lucas, local politi cians. Also in attendance were Amanda Gates, Centre County dairy princess and Ashley Bird, Centre County alternate dairy princess. The Centre County dairy promotion committee con ducted an auction to raise $BO4 for the dairy princess incentive awards and scholarships. Thanks to auctioneer Jim Smith and Fred Strouse for helping with the auction. After the picnic Tom and Lori showed their new free stall bam with tunnel ventilation. In Holly’s speech, she tried to convince milk producers that the quality of their milk is very im portant and should be the first thing that comes to mind when they are out in public with con sumers. Holly stressed that quali ty should be promoted with the product. She ended her speech with a catchy phrase that she came up with. “Milk?!
