May 22,2002 Report Supplied By USDA Trade sentiment was steady in the West, steady to firm elsewhere. Retail de mand was seasonally fair to good aided by retail features and Memorial Day needs. Food service was fair to fairly good. Supplies of smaller sizes were close balanced to short and confidently held, but heavier weights were at least suffi cient. In the Midwest, movement for the holiday weekend was questionable due to previous flooding and possible cooler weather and rain. Truck shortages in parts of the South caused problems and some delays in shipments to other loca tions. In the parts structure, breast items were moving well with supplies better bal anced to short of trade needs. The re maining items were at least adequate or easily available. In production areas, live supplies were moderate. Weights were de sirable to heavy, but mostly desirable.
