PCGA Announces Results Of 5-Acre Corn Club Contest The 2001 season was a variable one for many of us in the com production business. Planting proceeded at a rapid pace in warm dry soils. Emergence was uneven in some areas. For some the dry conditions persisted throughout the season, but for others timely tains resulted in very good yields. The dry fall conditions resulted in timely harvest at very low grain moistures. Take a few minutes and review the crop management programs of our champions - they reflect many of the crop management principles that we know result in high yields and environmental stewardship. Thanks to all who participated in this program to make it a success - the many extension agents and crop consultants who did yield checks, the producers who entered their fields and the industry folks who support our efforts. Also, thanks are due to Mark Antle in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences for his diligent work in pulling this report together. Greg W.
