Recalibration should be done periodically or when manure-handling practices change. While there may be other items of nutrient informa tion that producers may want to record, the items listed above are sufficient for most dairy farms. The most difficult step in the whole process is getting started. Don’t wait until regulations force you to keep nu trient management records. The Pennsylvania Dairy Quality Assurance Program (PDQA) is an integrated management program that identifies best management practices (BMPs) influencing the quality of milk, meat, and biosecurity. PDQA includes three modules for quality assurance: milk quality, meat quality, and biosecurity. Objectives of the pro gram are to help producers: • Produce consistent, safe, high quality products through increased animal health, productivity, and profitability. • Meet consumer and regulatory expectations regarding onfarm food safety and quality using a systems-based ap proach. • Promote environmental stewardship.
