Goats Become State Ambassador’s Passion

HARRISBURG (Dauphin
Co.) Most teen-agers who
show animals were born into it or
at least started showing at a
young age. But 19-year-old Kris
topher Trowbridge made a deci

three years ago.
Trowbridge now owns 10 head
and is the Pennsylvania Goat
Ambassador responsible for
promoting goats and goat dairy

upgraded to registered Nubians,
Toggenburgs, and Sannens. He
raises them on Curt and Helen
Snyder’s farm.
The first time in the show ring,
Trowbridge showed the grand
champion Sannen. The begin

his enthusiasm for the activity.
Trowbridge milks the does in
his herd.
“At first I was hesitate about
drinking goat’s milk, but now I
think it is delicious and think
cow milk tastes odd,” he said.
One of the first things Trow
bridge did when he became inter
est in goats was to join the Penn
sylvania Goat Association.
He said, “The goat community
is small, and we get to know each
other very well and become best
friends. ”
In June 2000 Trowbridge was
appointed alternate representa
tive and enjoyed promoting the
association. “I want to make the
public more aware of goats and
the association,” he said.
In anticipation of being select
