Present week purchases for the week ending October 12, were 242,119 cases which was 10 percent below the prior week and 1 percent above estimates. Cases purchased present week: Car toned 208,350, down 11% from previous week; Loose 33,769, up 3%; Total 242,119, down 10% from previous week. Comparison figures are compiled on a matched plant basis. Purchases and esti mates by 17 cooperators; 30 dozen cases or equivalent. MARKET AT A GLANCE: In the Southeast, prices were higher on large and medium, but were unchanged on the remainder of sizes. In most other loca tions, prices were higher on all weights. The market tone was steady to fully steady. Demand ranged light to good, best into limited feature activity. Sup plies were adequate to fully adequate, occasionally close for current needs. Breaking stock demand was light to good and offerings were tight to ade quate. Light type fowl were fully suffi cient for slaughter schedules.
