Adams, execu tive vice president and chief op erating officer of Wenger’s Feed Mill, Inc., was honored as a 2001 Outstanding Alumnus of the Col lege of Agricultural Sciences on Sept. 7. Adams is a driving force be hind many of Pennsylvania’s pro active programs, such as the Pennsylvania Egg Quality Assur ance Program (PEQAP), that have garnered national attention and served as the prototype for the rest of the country. Adams has held several key leadership positions. He has served as president of the Mary land Feed Council (Wenger’s customer base extends into Mary land); chairman of the PennAg Poultry Council, and president of the PennAg Industries Associa tion. All aspects of the business seek to treat the animals and the land humanely and respectfully. • Highland Orchards: This is a family-run orchard business that changes with the seasons. See how fruits are grown and cider is made. There are a variety of things for families to see and do here. • Lambert Spawn Company: The company behind the mush room industry in Chester Coun ty. Since the area is the “Mush room Capital of the World,” come and see how the mush rooms grow. • Stargazers Vineyard: Dis plays of the equipment necessary in wine making will show the process from beginning with the vines to the finished bottles. • Tri-Color Nurseries; Get a preview of the Christmas season at this Christmas tree farm. Take a hayride and get a glimpse of the beautiful trees and learn what’s involved in keeping these special trees growing more beau tiful every year. The tours are free. Because of the current prob lems with animal diseases in Eu rope, tour organizers ask that if your family has recently traveled overseas, please avoid the farms with livestock. There will be products avail able to buy at some of the stops and a lunch stand will be in cluded.
