Steer and heifer calves near steady with fairly good demand for light holiday receipts. Supply mostly calves and cows. Spotty showers continue with small chances for rains weekly. Outlook for wheat/rye pasture plantings much improved from last year. Slaughter cows weak. Slaughter bulls 1.00 lower. Packer demand moderate. Demand good for cows returning to the country. Total of 575 cows and bulls sold with 45 percent to packers. Receipts this holiday shortened week 1635; last week 9134; last year (holiday week) 1283. Supply consisted of 10 per cent yearlings and calves over 600 lbs; 72 percent calves and light yearlings under 600 lbs; 35 percent cows and bulls.
