Even in third world countries
exacting techniques are not seen
as much as before. Fine details
take so much time, and are not
economically feastible. In addi
tion there is the inability to ob
tain some materials. Because of a
boom in building on coastal re
gion, grasses are more difficult to
find.
Like most antiques, the older
the basket and better the quality
the more demand and the higher
the value.
“My advice to collectors is to
buy the best value you can find,
but make sure that it is a basket
you like so that you enjoy it,”
Barrows said.
Barrows is in demand as an in
structor and workshop leader at
colleges, museums, and guilds.
Those interested in attending one
of her classes or workshops, may
contact her at (215) 795-2182.
