easily be compiled so that if
someone asks for a, list of others
interested in a particular area I
could provide them with that in

She also foresees have quar

In addition to sharing food

By April, you would think that
all the snow of winter would be
gone. But, I keep hearing stories
of snow in Maine and Vermont.
Our daughter and her family will
be moving to Maine next month.
When they were there to buy a
house, there was several feet of
snow on the ground.
And, a nephew in Vermont
was snowed in for several days as
he lives off the beaten path. I
thought his worry might be food,
but his mother said that it was
heat and whether the pile of
wood would last. He dug a path
for his dog to get outdoors.
Here in Lancaster County, my
peas are just now coming up in
our garden. I planted four kinds

and hope for a good harvest.
Most of the seed I save from year
to year. Some of our seed is sold
by Landis Valley Museum under
their Heirloom Seed Project as
Risser Sickle Pea. One kind is
quite similar to the Sugar Snap
pea, while the other is quite early
and can be harvested the end of
May.
I’ve bought some more used
wool material and finally fin
ished another braided rug. This
one has many colors and was not
carefully planned. Let’s hope
someone will find it attractive.
Different people like different
colors. One grandchild picked a
green rug while another likes
pink.

Baking Lesson
On The ‘Net
For consumers with a
fear of baking from
scratch. Land O’Lakes now
offers a basic baking lesson
on its Website, www.lando

The current lesson tack
les brownies one of the
most popular baked treats
in America. Consumers
can choose to learn to bake
their favorite kind of
brownie chewy, fudgy or
cakey. The site provides
step-by-step instructions
and photos from preparing
the pan to testing for done
ness. The lesson will
change periodically. Next
up: how to roll out dough.
One of our grandsons just re
turned from a 10 day trip to Eu
rope. He plays the cello and was
in Austria, Switzerland, France,
and Germany. Not too many
14-year-old boys have this oppor
tunity. He started the trip by for
getting his jacket, so he phoned
his father from the airport, which
was an hour from his home. He
was told to buy one on his trip as
a remembrance of the journey.
