A24-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, April 21,2001 Farmers Union Urges Reform Of Estate Tax WASHINGTON, D.C. National Farmers Union has urged congressional leaders to adopt responsible estate tax reform that provides immedi ate help to families, farmers and small business owners. “Congress has a real oppor tunity to address meaningful tax reform that helps our hard working family farmers and ranchers and small business owners with relief immediate ly, rather than waiting for possible repeal down the road that may still subject their heirs to capital gains tax. The other proposals also provide a windfall to America’s wealth iest families, jeopardizing our ability to address other na tional priority issues such as education, health care and the rural economy,” said NFU President Leland Swenson.
