CATTLE: Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers sold
mostly 2.00 higher, with instances 2.50
higher on High Choice and Prime
grades. The higher steer market was not
iced early in the week and continued
through Thursday’s attractive offering.
Slaughter heifers traded mostly steady.
Local holstein steers traded steady early
in the week and closed 1.00 higher on
very attractive offerings. Midwest
feedlot trade was active and sold cattle
2.00 higher at 81.00-82.00 live and 3.00-
5.00 higher at 130.00-134.00 dressed
basis. Demand for slaughter cows weak
ened this week to close 2.00-4.00 lower
for the week. Slaughter bulls traded
steady to 1.00 lower. Supply included 32
percent slaughter steers, 10 percent
slaughter heifers, 44 percent cows, 4 per
cent bulls, with the balance feeders.

late 81.25-84.50, with fancy singles up to
85,75. Choice 2-3 1110-1495 lbs 77.50-
82.50, with high dressing 1-2 83.50;

CALVES: Compared to last week,
vealers sold S.OO-7.00 higher with very
good demand late in the week. Large
slaughter calves closed 8.00 lower. Hol
stein bulls returning to the farm sold
uneven, from 8.00 lower to 8.00 higher
on the plainer type. Holstein heifers were
lower early in the week, but closed 20.00-
30.00 higher, with very active trading
late in the week.
VEALERS: Standard and Good 60-
120 lbs 45.00-77.00. Utility 55-95 lbs
20.00- 50.00.
SLAUGHTER CALVES: Good and
Choice 200-350 lbs 85.00-110.00; 350-
570 lbs 72.00-94.00.
RETURNED TO FARM: Holstein
