ANSWER - Holly Esh bach, Dover, wanted an ef fective method of keeping cats from using flowerbeds as a litter box. Mildred Hess, Myerstown, has two suggestions: Crush mothballs into a powder. Add two table spoons cayenne pepper and two tablespoons black pepper. Spread the mix on the ground wherever you don’t want the cats to go. 5 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons powdered mustard 3 tablespoons cayenne pepper 2 tablespoons chili pow der 2 quarts warm water Mix all ingredients to gether. Sprinkle solution around the perimeter you want to protect. A reader from the South eastern area writes that chopped citrus rinds work. Pieces 1-1 Ya inches are not too obvious. Replace when odor is gone or try a citrus spray, Just keep it off the plants. Reapply until the cats get the hint. P. Eby, Belleville, sug gests sprinkling coffee grounds in the flower bed.
