Compared to last week; Feeder steers
and heifers steady to 2.00 higher with
late moderate demind. Demand for
feeders good early in the sale as light re
ceipts from the previous week had
buyers battling for numbers. However
those quickly remembered the muddy
mess that many feedlots were in and
buyers backed down. Stocker cattle and
calves sold 2.00-4.00 higher with very
good demand. With temperatures in the
low sixties a hint of spring was in the air.
Farmers are anxiously waiting to turn
cattle out on spring pastures. Quality
plain through attractive. Weigh-ups av
erage. Feeders in medium to fleshy con
ditions; calves and Stockers in thin to

moderate flesh conditons. Slaughter
cows weak to 1.50 lower. Slaughter bulls
steady to 1.00 lower. Packer demand
moderate. Several dispersals of bred
heifers and cows included. Demand very
good for cows returning to the country.
Total of 675 cows and bulls sold with 25
percent going to packers. Receipts this
week 11,509; last week 5289; last year
11,151. Supply consisted of 59 percent
yearlings over 600 lbs; 35 percent calves
and light yearlings under 600 lbs; 6 per
cent cows and bulls.
Heifers comprised 36 percent of feeder
and calf supply.
