The manager of the Review says that speaks well for the event just concluded at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center near London, Ohio. “Exhibitors left happy. Atten dance was excellent. The field demonstrations ran very well,” Fendrick said. More than 142,000 people 142,990 in all were estimated to visit the Review this year, conducted Sept. 19-21. That compares well with the record established in 1997 at 145,454. Visitors saw equipment and sup plies from 571 exhibitors, viewed field demonstrations, and at- 2000 Percheron Show grand champion mare, L.D.’s Prince Farrah, Leroy and Carolyn Gray, Fairbank, lowa. 2000 Percheron Show grand champion stallion, Win dermere’s Just Incredible, Gerald Allebach, Spring Mills. 2000 Clydesdale Show grand champion mare, Hillmoor Ann May, Tomas J. Miller, Mican, 111. tended educational sessions. Fendrick credited his student work crew and staff for the suc cess of the event. Chuck Gamble, assistant farm mana ger, said the upbeat attitude of exhibitors and farmers, in the midst of low farm prices, could partially be credited to good crops and the government’s farm safety net. The opening of the Natural Resources Interpretive Center stands out as a highlight of the event, Fendrick said. The $225,000 building 3,100 square feet counting deck and porch will serve as a learning laboratory for students of all ages. Also at the Review, attendees volunteered their time and energy to make 268 polar fleece hats for homeless children. The event was organized by Bridgette Sloan and Mary For ster, consumer and textile sci ences associates for Ohio State University Extension. They en couraged passers-by to sit down at one of five Singer sewing ma chines donated by Graceland Sewing Center in Columbus and follow step-by-step directions to make a hat. They surpassed their original goal of 250 hats. The Farm Science Review is an annual event sponsored by Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Envi ronmental Sciences. Next year’s show will take place Sept. 18-20. For more information, see the Review’s Website at http://www.ag.ohio-state.
