Keenan was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1991. He is a member of the American Dairy Science Association, the American Society for Biochem istry and Molecular Biology, and the International Society for Re search on Human Milk and Lac tation. A native of Portage, Keenan received his bachelor’s degree in dairy science from Penn State in 1964, and earned master’s and doctoral degrees from Oregon State University in 1965 and 1967, respectively.
