Va. Farm Takes Premier Breeder Exhibitor HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) Leneva Shorthorns of Leesburg, Va. was selected pre mier breeder and exhibitor at the 2000 Shorthorn Show here at the Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE). In the female classes, the junior champion was ASF Quantum Queen 941 owned by McElhaney Stock Farm of Hookstown. Reserve junior champion honors went to RDE Ma Radiance 945, owned by Mi chelle Morrison of Jarrettsville, Md. Senior champion award was given to RC Farm of New Waterford, Ohio with Waukaru Joy Maid 927. Reserve senior champion female was Arm strong Lady Rose owned by Armstrong Farms of Saxonburg, Pa. Reserve champion calf bull was MSF JCS Tahoe 935 from McElhaney Stock Farm of New England 4-H’ers Gather For Big E Dairy Competitions WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Youth from all around New England gathered here re cently for the 2000 Big E 4-H Dairy Show to exhibit their ani mals and participate in a variety 6f activities. About 200 4-H members brought their cattle to the show, and also competed in judging contests, a quiz bowl, and a fit ting contest. When the dust settled, Peter Erb, Landaff, N.H., walked away with the top senior show man honors, and Gavin Hitchener, Bradford, Vt., took home the junior showman honors. In the breed classes, Faith Everett, Williamsburg, Mass., won the grand - champion Ayrshire trophy with Hemen way Hill Jilda Lucky 7. Erin Kinsella, Falls Village, Conn., won reserve grand champion honors with Moreau Ned’s Jodie. In the Brown Swiss breed, Ni colette Shelley, Winchester, N.H., won the grand champion ribbon with Kelly-View Aristotle Rosey. Gregory Clark, Jr., of Cornish Flat, N.H. won the re serve grand champion honors with Heiz Acres Rhythm Mary. At the conclusion of the Guernsey show, Keri Brown, West Rutland, Vt., took home the grand champion trophy with Otter Meadow Terri’s Rebecca. Reserve grand champion award went to Beth-Ann Creighton, Webster, N.H. and Huckins Goliath. In the Holstein breed, Bryant Harvey, .Rochester, Vt., cap tured the grand champion honors with Robeth Mandel Winnie. Zach Woodis, Spencer, Mass., walked away with reserve grand champion honors on Smithson Delaware Fashion. Jersey exhibitor Melynda Naples, Madison, Conn., swept the grand champion award with Deerfields Sooner Bridget. Becky Everett, of Williamsburg, Mass., won the reserve grand Hookstown. SS Shooter 950 was selected as the junior champion bull, owned by High Hope Cattle of Union Bridge, Md. 10 M’s Polled Shorthorns Woodsfield, Ohio had the reserve junior champion with SS On Par 907. Ayrshire Show Mark Costello, Exeter, R. 1., took home the junior champion trophy not only in the junior Ayrshire show at the 2000 Big E, but also in the open Ayrshire as well. His first-place senior year ling heifer, Bonnie Brae Rachel 2, captured the honors at the show, judged by Brian Schilling, Boggstown, Ind. Grand champion of the junior show went to Eric Stanton, Cob leskill, N.Y. with his 4-year-old cow, Stan-ary Heligo’s Daisy 1882. Reserve grand champion honors went to Zachary Woodis, Spencer, Mass., on his senior 3- year-old cow. Woodis also had reserve junior champion of the show with his summer yearling. In the open show, the Woodis family continued their winning streak by winning grand cham pion of the show. The cow, owned by William Woodis of North Brookfield, Mass., is Lone Birch BB Kell Magic, a 5-year old cow. The first-place senior 2- year-old, Rosayre Blitz, owned by Donald Proctor and Steve and Mary Woodis, was named reserve grand champion of the show. Carl Poland, Fol-Ayr Farm, Berne, N.Y., was named premier exhibitor of th& show. Wilshore Farm, Falmouth, Maine, was named premier breeder.
