AFBF, Other Farm Groups Want Action Against EU WASHINGTON, D.C. The American Farm Bureau along with two other major farm groups and a large food distribu tor said recently they were “deeply troubled” by the Clin ton administration’s two-month delay in adopting new European Union targets for retaliation in a pair of agricultural trade disputes. “We believe that continued delays in the implementation of this provision have powerful im plications for the seriousness our nation attaches to the enforce ment of trade agreements,” said a letter from the American Farm Bureau, the National Cattle men’s Beef Association, the American Meat Institute, and Chiquita Brands International Inc. The groups sent a letter to White House chief of staff John Podesta, asking him to meet with them this week and explain why the so-called “carousel” list has been held up. Congress passed legislation requiring the Clinton adminis tration to change the list of EU goods slapped with 100-percent tariffs every six months until Brussels complies with World Trade Organization rulings in disputes over hormone-treated beef and U.S. bananas. The first set of changes were due to have been announced by June 19. • Creates a mini-seedbed with no-till coulters • Fluted seed cups and 4-speed gearbox provide accuracy in varying rates and seed sizes.
