Prices were higher on yolk products
and blends compared to last week. The
balance of prices were irregular. Whole
price range narrowed and whites were
generally unchanged to slightly higher.
Demand was good for yolks, mixed on
whole egg and mostly light on whites.
Supplies continued generally adequate.
The market tone was firm for yolks and
steady to fully steady on the balance.
Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients in
cluded) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending August 12, 2000 were 13 percent
more than last week and 7 percent less
than the same week a year ago.

In Philadelphia, prices were un
changed to I cent lower on the larger
sizes and unchanged for mediums. In
Boston and New England, prices were
unchanged. The market tone was gener
ally steady for brown eggs and barely
steady on white eggs. Demand was light
to fair. Supplies were adequate to avail
able with the larger sizes in the longest
position. Breaking stock supplies were
sufficient for the light demand. Spent
hen availability was adequate for slaugh
ter requirements.
Philadelphia: prices to retailers, sales
to volume buyers, USDA Grade A and
Grade A, white eggs in cartons, deliv
ered store door, cents per dozen. Extra
