A3O-Lancastar Farming, Saturday, August 5, 2000 4-H SkiUathon Aug. 17 At Ag Progress ROCKSPRING (Centre Co.) Ag Progress Days is also the site of the 4-H Equine Skil lathon, here Aug. 17. All 2000 Pennsylvania 4- H horse club members are invited to compete. Components of the skillathon are: I '.GILDING - NEW or REMODELING New Cluster Free Stalls ; Cluster Free Stalls are easily installed in new or remodeled barns. The free stalls “hanging” from barn rafters provide many advantages to help keep cows safe and healthy By using suspended free stalls, cows are less likely to obtain bruises. Thus all their energy can be concentrated towards increased milk production. The design of the stall allows it to swing up, down or back out of the way of the cow. Because they swing freely, the stalls can withstand the force of animal contact. And because they are powder coated, they require little maintenance. • Division 1, horseless, new for 2000. Included are identifi cation stations, a written test, and the contestant must judge one conformation halter class. • Division 2, with horse. This includes identification stations, a written test, and a showman ship contest. For the identification stations, subjects may include topics from project books. The written test includes general knowledge of horses, horse-riding ability, and related topics.
