CATTLE CALVES
THIS WEEK 1913 1805
LAST WEEK 1879 1704
LAST YEAR 2653 1802
CATTLE; Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers and heif
ers closed 2.00-3.00 lower, with stiff
losses late in the week. The fat cattle
market has slipped steadily lower all
summer, but the rug came out from
under prices on Thursday. Lower fu-.
tures, dressed beef, and Western mar
kets along with a large steer run and
lackadaisical buyers took it’s toll. Buyers
took their seats Thursday with a sharply
lower market in mind, and conditions
were evident on the first bunch sold.
Midwestern feeders are also suffering
and this week settled for 64.00 live and
mostly 102.00 dressed, which was 1.00-
(Turn to Pago A 39) .
