MCC Tristate Relief Sale Is June 16-17 McHENRY, Md. The TriS tate Relief Sale to benefit Men nonite Central Committee's (MCC), worldwide mission ef forts, is Friday and Saturday, June 16-17 at the Garrett County Fairground, McHenry, Md. MCC seeks to demonstrate God’s love by working among people suffering from poverty, conflict, oppression, and natural disaster. In 1920, MCC was started in response to hunger in the Ukraine. “MCC goes in until the prob lem is solved,” notes John Hepl er, chairman of the TriState Re lief Sale subcommittee that is directing activities. The blockbuster affair will in volve many aspects; however, the proceeds from all of them will be turned over to MCC after costs have been paid. Excitement is mounting for the new Silent Auction being held from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday evening, just as the grounds are opened. The sub committee planning the silent auction reports there will be no limit on how often a bidder can rebid. He must go higher than the previous bid. MINI! Saturday at 6:30 a.m. the gates are open in time for breakfast of pancakes and sausage, followed at 8 a.m. by the opening of Mar ket Place. The Market Place is popular with hundreds of pre-priced goods for shoppers. - At 9 a.m. the quilt auction will begin and the children will go to special activities such as assem bling health kits and counting coins in the Penny Power project. They will watch simulated MCC meat canning, do origami and sand art. This year Penny Power will go to help millions of flooding vic tims in Bangladesh, to build homes, buy vegetable seeds and provide medicine. Penny Power has been underway for months in Allegheny Mennonite Confer ence churches. The kids will be entitled to their own auction, too, and no body who is over 14, can legally place a bid. At 10:30 a.m. the Country Auction will begin. A sampling of merchandise includes Lenox and Simon Pearce glassware; Lynn Lais pottery, Gary Yoder wood sculptures, P.
