Penn State Cooperative Exten sion in Dauphin County is ac cepting applications from Dauphin County gardeners for the next Master Gardener Training Program. An information session to ac quaint applicants to the Master Gardener program will be con ducted on Tuesday, June 20, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Penn State Eastgate Center, Seventh and Herr Street in Harrisburg. The deadline for applications is Thursday, June 15. Screening and interviews will be held during the month of July. This year successful appli cants from Dauphin County will attend weekly classes with Leba non County gardeners on Tues day afternoons from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Lebanon County Ex tension office, beginning August 29 through December 5. In exchange for the instruction, candidates agree to complete 50 hours of volun teer service to Penn State Coop erative Extension’s consumer horticulture and urban garden ing programs. The program is particularly looking for volun teers who will be available to help answer lawn, landscape and garden questions at the ex tension office on Monday and Wednesday mornings during the growing season. Priority will also be given to volunteers who are also available during day time hours to help with 4-H plant science projects in the schools in both upper and lower ends of the county.
