proved interest was noted on yolks at the
lower price levels. Offerings were usually
reported as adequate for current needs.
The undertone was mixed and unsettled.
Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients in
cluded) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending April 22, 2000 were 14 % less
than l?st week, and 33% less than a year
ago. Shell egg suppliers were fully ade
quate to ample for immediate needs.

DELMARVA BROILER/FRYER
MARKET. FEDERAL-STATE
Movement of ready-to-cook whole
birds showed some signs of improving
for the weekend but was still no better
than fair. Offerings continued more than
adequate with the smaller sizes usually
in the most available position. Live sup
plies were mostly moderate; weights
were generally desirable. Processing
schedules were moderately heavy. Less
than trucklot asking prices were un
changed at 56 to 68 cents. Trade senti
ment was steady. In the parts complex,
all items were at least adequate to ample.
Boneless, skinless breasts appeared to be
in the weakest position. Leg quarters
were receiving increased interest.

NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE
In Chicago and the Eastern region,
prices were unchanged to lower on the
larger sizes, unchanged on the balance.
Elsewhere, prices were unchanged. The
market tone ranged steady at best to
weak, and the larger sizes were usually
in the weakest position. Retail demand
continued light to fair, no better than
moderate; and was generally best for the
occasional feature. Supplies of the larger
sizes remained available to ample, and
the medium and lighter weights were
generally adequate. Breaking stock
offerings were adequate to fully ade
quate, and demand for additional prod
uct was generally light to occasionally
moderate. Light type fowl were mostly
ample for current processing schedules
which ranged from normal to heavy.
