New Scholarship Opportunities

tional Dairy Shrine is pleased to
announce two new scholarship
categories. The recently an
nounced opportunities include a
Kildee Scholarship and a co
sponsorship of three candidates
to attend the next young Dairy
Leaders Institute.
The Kildee Scholarship was
established by the National
Dairy Shrine in honor of H.H.
Kildee, an outstanding judge of
dairy cattle and a strong sup-

industry. The winner will
receive a $2,000 scholarship to
be used to meet financial obliga
tions at the school of his or her
choice. The chosen scholarship
recipient will be recognized at
the National Dairy Choice
Awards Banquet in October
during the World Dairy Expo.
In addition to the new schol
arship, the National Dairy
Shrine is pleased to announce its
joint efforts with the Holstein
Foundation to co-sponsor three
participants at the next Young
Dairy Leaders Institute.
Applications will be mailed to
the top five individuals from the
past 10 National Dairy Shrine
Student Recognition Contests.

From Beef Producers

association also made a special
presentation to Adams County
Commissioner Harry Stokes.
Stokes gratefully received the
final installment a $lO,OOO
pledge made by the association
toward the cost of Adams Coun
ty’s new ag building which is ex
pected to be ready for
occupancy the end of May. Jim
Delaplaine, the vice-president of
the association said the associa
tion had made the single largest
donation to the ag center.
Other highlights of the eve
ning included the traditional
parade of bulls, naming the
Adams County Beef Queen and
Princess and giving out awards.

In the awards category:
Travis Sherman received the
Environmental Stewardship
award for conservation practices
on the farm he operates with his
wife Christine in Wellsviile. Ray
and Mary Grimes were given the
1999 member recognition award
for their years of dedication to
the beef industry.
Allyson Cole, Miranda Leese,
Jessi Leister and B.J. Wagner
were named recipients of the
Academic Achievement Awards
for 2000. Each one will receive a
check for $6OO at the beginning
of the school year.

ville was chosen the beef queen
and Stacy Menchey of Littles
town was chosen as beef prin
cess.
