    Ida’s
Notebook
Ida Risser
Is winter finished for this
year? We have had warm days
and the snow is gone. There is
no more sledding on our steep
meadow hill. I’ve brought some
forsythia stems into the house
and they are blooming. In the
morning we watch a group of
bluebirds sit on our three bird
houses.
When the grandchildren
come for a few hours, we make
cookies. The last time that they
were here I cooked rather than
baked some chocolate oatmeal
cookies. If I don’t cook them

When the oldest grandson walks
home past our house, I hurry out
with a few goodies for him. He
does not say, “No, thank you.”
He is always hungry.
My high school class had their
bimonthly luncheon last week.
And, during a discussion on
where to meet the next time,
someone asked how many
people in the room would be 80
years old this year. It was amus

raised in answer to that ques

Adams County Seeking Dairy Princess
GETTYSBURG (Adams Co.)
Are you interested in promot
ing dairy products while gaining
valuable skills to use in a future
career and friendships to last
throughout your life? Here’s
your chance.
she had the attitude of an old
lady. She replied, “I am an old
lady!”
My husband is driving a car
again. He still uses a cane but he
took himself to the barbershop
as it was a necessary job after
two months of being house
bound. Everyday he thinks of
someplace to go. Maybe a hard
ware store, the bank or even a
visit to a faraway brother. Now
we can visit other people’s
homes instead of entertaining
them in our home.
We missed a lot of annual
farm meetings this year but we
can always look forward to next
year’s meetings.
