Lisa, 18, daughter of Ronald and Judi
Stauffer, Stevens, has held a couple officer
positions, including ninth grade class trea
surer and second recording secretary. She
has been a member of the earnings, sav
ings, and investments committee and chair
of the scholarship and citizenship commit
tees. She received a scholarship award and
the Greenhand and chapter degrees.
FFA is enjoyable, according to four
year New Oxford FFA member Heather
Stevens, because of the “people that you
meet, the places you go, and the lifetime
skills that are learned."
Heather, 18, daughter of Richard and
Deborah Stevens, Abbottstown, plans to
graduate Grom Penn State with an associ
ate’s degree in agricultural business.

son, Seward, plans to attend Penn State for
environmental resource management or
Scott, four-year United FFA member,
has served as chapter reporter and secret
ary, hi addition, he has served on a variety
of committees, including Adopt-A-
Stream, tree planting, koi production,
pheasants, and Food For America. He
completed four years of a wildlife habitat
Scott received a first-place award in the

Valerie Spangler, four-year Mifflinburg
FFA member, writes:
“I enjoy the opportunities that I have
been given and I take advantage of all the
new experiences that are offered."
Valerie, 17, daughter of Lee and Kathy
Spangler, Mifflinburg, plans to run for
state office after graduation and then
intend Penn State to major in agriculture.
Valerie has served as chapter assistant
chaplain and is chapter vice president and
county vice president In addition, she has
been involved in several committees,
including summer meetings, livestock,
exhibits and demonstrations, nomination,
executive, and points.
She participated in the National FFA
Convention in Kansas City in 1998, Louis
ville in 1999, and the state nomination
committee in 1999, as well as the
Washington Leadership Conference.
Valerie completed several projects,
including dairy heifer, on-farm work, and
fresh-market produce. She received the
Star Chapter Award, a Gist place in the
state agronomy contest in 1998, and a gold
in the state record keeping contest in 1997.
She received her Greenhand, chapter, and
SUN Area degrees.
