National Grain Market St Joseph, MO Wed Sep 29, 1999 USDA-MO Dept Ag Market News DAILY NATIONAL GRAIN SUMMARY Grain and soybean prices were mixed to day. Wheat mostly 2 to 5 cents lower except Portland 4 cents higher. Com steady to 2 cents higher. Sorghum steady. Soy beans 1 to 4 cents higher. Spring wheat harvest is ail but finished. Most of the winter wheat country received moisture for germination and improving conditions for drilling. Low prices but not much of an indication yet as to planting intentions from winter wheat producers. Every com bine and grain truck in the country will be running in the next day or so as tain show ers move east and fields dry out Look for harvest pressure. With nice weather and today's big combines, elevators will fill up rapidly n the next thing we hear will be storing on the ground. Early yield com estimates tanged from poor to very good, depend- ing on the load. However, with big carryover stocks acres planted and good yields many places, don't look for a short supply. Producers are checking their county posted prices, elevator bids, and LDP’s. Soybeans ate following closely on the heels of com. Com usually dries out for earlier harvesting, but as soon as the beans get ready, producers will switch combine headers and go for the soybeans. Com will hold up better in the fields than soybeans. Soybean LDP's continue to be rather sub stantial in most all counties.
