Robert Nuss, professor erf orna mental horticulture in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences. “Last year, we sent so many people back and-forth that we saw the need to consolidate the two activities,” Nuss said. “By combin ing the gardening tent with the cut flower gar den, we can show visi tors new products and provide them with information on any plant-related prob lems.” Professional growers and home gardeners in terested in cut flowers can leant about varie ties, weed control, and business opportunities. The Variety trial in cludes more than 100 new varieties from as ters to sunflowers, as well as some unusua flowers not widel) known in the market. Flower arranging demonstrations will be held daily in the tent at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Visi tors can get information on starting and manag ing a field-grown cut flower business or just enjoy a few quiet min utes walking through the flower beds. Then, Penn State fa culty and cooperative extension agents can help diagnose your plant, insect, and mite problems.
