CATTLE: Compared to Tuesday;
slaughter steers sold .50-I.oolower. Supply
was lighter than usual and mostly plain in
quality. Fat cattle prices closed weak to
mostly .50 lower with the oncoming Easter
holiday pressuring the market late in the
week. Holstein steers sold mostly steady
and slaughter heifers were not well tested.
Slaughter cow demand continues to be light
and prices were weak to 1.00-lower.
Slaughter bulls sold 1.00-3.oolower. Supp
ly included 32 percent slaughter steers and
40 percent slaughter cows.

CALVES: Compared to Monday’s auc
tion, veal calves sold 3.00-4.00 lower in
slow trading. Slaughter calves sold mostly
steady with Monday’s weak market and the
supply was very plain. Demand was only
moderate for Holstein bull calves returning
to feed and prices were mostly steady.
Holstein heifer calf trading was very active
and prices were sharply higher, with the
highest prices paid in months. Supply
included 343 head in the State graded sale
and around 87 percent returned to the farm.

SHEEP: Compared to Monday; slaugh
ter lambs sold uneven, weights under 60 lbs
sold 10.00-20.00 lower while the heavier
lambs sold firm to 5.00 higher. The holiday
demand was lighter with very little time left
until Easter. Slaughter ewes and aged sheep
sold weak to 5.00 lower.
