Bitty OMwn/CwsM Iff Tilmi We will begin receiving 609 type tobacco for processing beginning Mon., Feb. 8. We will be taking a limited amount of tobacco by appointment only. This tobacco must be graded correctly (in four grades) and stripped with the proper moisture content. We would advise anyone considering carrying tobacco over next year to leave it hanging in the barn. This tobacco does not carry over well in the bale. If you have tobacco already in bale, you might want to consider selling or processing. We have processed several Lancaster Co. crops in years past. We had success in getting our farmers back 40% over market value in 1986. Last year all the farmers that processed with us, got back a $1.29/lb and were paid in Nov. 1998. We feel at the current prices, the best hope for farmers making a profit is to process.
